The metro covers most sights. Line 1 runs east–west from Shenyang Station via Taiyuan Street, Huaiyuanmen and Zhongjie (Imperial Palace) out to Dongling Park and the Botanical Garden; Line 2 runs north–south from Beiling Park via Shenyang North Station to the Provincial Museum and the airport; Line 4 links Shenyang North, Taiyuan Street and Shenyang South. Taxis and DiDi are cheap. Most museums close on Mondays. Winters are long and cold (often −15 °C or lower at night): dress warmly and keep your phone warm. Visa-free transit: the whole of Liaoning province is in the 240-hour stay area and Shenyang Taoxian Airport is an eligible port of entry (National Immigration Administration, updated 20 August 2026).
